About the firm
Since 2011, Betajbeta has provided fee-only, independent retirement planning to Canadians who want advice that is structurally required to serve them — not the advisor.

Betajbeta is a retirement planning practice — not a wealth management firm, not an insurance brokerage, and not a bank. We do not manage investment portfolios, sell financial products or earn commissions of any kind. What we do is build, review and maintain retirement plans for Canadians who are within ten years of retirement or who have already retired and want to ensure their income, savings and estate are structured correctly. Our clients are mostly professionals, educators, civil servants and small business owners based in the Ottawa region — people with meaningful savings who want an independent second opinion on how those savings should be deployed across what may be a thirty-year retirement. We operate from our Sparks Street office in downtown Ottawa, and all advisory work is carried out by our own team. We do not outsource planning work or use third-party financial models without full disclosure.
Every Betajbeta advisor operates under a written fiduciary commitment: we are required, by our own firm's policy and by the nature of our fee structure, to recommend only what is in the client's best interest. We have refused to affiliate with any dealer network or insurance distributor precisely because those affiliations introduce conflicts of interest that are incompatible with fiduciary advice. Since 2011 we have worked with more than 400 Ottawa-area households on retirement plans ranging from straightforward RRSP consolidation to complex multi-property estate coordination. We typically review each client's plan at least once per year, and we document every recommendation in writing. We are a small team — deliberately so. We limit our client roster to maintain the depth of attention each plan requires. If we cannot take on a new engagement without compromising the quality of existing ones, we say so clearly and maintain a short waitlist rather than over-extending. We also acknowledge the limits of what planning can achieve: market performance, longevity and changes in tax law are not within our control. We model scenarios and prepare contingencies, but we do not promise specific financial outcomes — and any advisor who does should be treated with caution.
We are open Monday through Friday at our downtown Ottawa office. Initial consultations are by appointment.
